Today, Sunday, October 4th Christen received her First Holy Communion at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Old Saybrook. She was baptized at Holy Cross Lutheran Church on November 4th, 2001 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. On her baptismal certificate it says:
"You are a child of God because God choose you and marked you through this act. All of God's promises belong to you as you live under Christ in the Kingdom. Christ died for your sins and you have been buried with Him in baptism. The life you now live is not your life, but the life of your risen Lord living in you."

Christen was presented with a Bible during the children's sermon. One of the scripture readings for this day was from Mark 10:14-16:
"Let the children come to me; do not stop them;for it is such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it." And he took them up in his arms, laid his hands on them, and blessed them.

Our friend, Barbara, who is an artist in Guilford, made a beautiful cross necklace for Christen to wear on her First Communion.
