"It"

This might seem like a silly post, but here it goes. Christen has been learning how to write in cursive at school. She says that it is kind of hard for her. She has always had an odd pencil grip so the are working on that with her. Unlike Connor did, she has not been coming home with practice sheets for homework, so you kind of forget that she is learning cursive. One day she comes home and says, "Mom, I learned how to write my first word in cursive!" When I asked what word she said, "Let me just show you." She concentrated for a moment and then held up a piece of paper with the word "it" written ever-so-sweetly right in the middle. She was so pleased! Now I find little pieces of paper all over the house with that cute little word on it. . .just "it". It is indeed the little things in life that are the sweetest.

He fills my life with good things. Psalm 103:5

Lunch in the Tree House

Mmmmm, tomato soup, cheese and crackers, cucumbers and green peppers for lunch in the tree house. What could be better on a perfect fall day?
Isabella, Christen,Ian and Connor.

Calling all friends, calling all friends, (you know who you are) remember when we had dinner in the tree house and ate with our mouths full and made a mess? Wish you were here!

Take it as it comes. . .

Not every day is a winning day. As high as we were yesterday. . .we are low today. Take it as it comes. Thursday's practice will be spent in the cages batting. None the less, it was a great day for baseball and for just about anything you would want to do outside! I think we will have lunch in the treehouse and the go to the plank walk for a little hike. We have not been there in the fall yet, should be pretty.

What did we ever do without you, Montana?

Okay, so we thought that we could live a long and happy life and never have a dog. . .then we got Montana. Now, a year and a half later we cannot imagine life without him. I felt so bad that he was home alone and in his crate (which he loves) all day Saturday that I let him sleep at the foot of our bed all night. He was so happy and my feet were so very warm and toasty! Anyhow, if I of all people can have a dog and love it. . .let me just say if you are not sure and you have thought about it for a long time, you should probably go for it! They really are your best friend and always happy to see you.

Why is it?

Why is it that kids have their most amazing moments in sports history when one or more of their parents are not there to see it? Can anyone explain this to me? Today the game was tied up in the bottom af the last inning. . .Mets were up to bat, Connor specifically. He gets a base hit to first anf then steals second. A kid named Jacob is up to bat, he smacks the ball, Connor runs to third and then home scoring the winning run! Now this is "mom" verbage of what happened, but I could not believe it! Man, Larry. . .I wish you could have seen it. Connor was so happy and the Cardiac Mets pulled off another one!

Brownies Can Do ANYTHING!

Christen is now part of a great Brownie Troop here in Guilford. She is the only girl in the troop sporting two troop numbers on her vest. . .1385 from Libertyville and 62067 from Guilford! Mrs. VanMatre and Mrs. Losh always said that Brownies can do anything and indeed they can!

Friends from Troop 62067 waiting to march in the Guilford Fair Parade.
It was a great weather day for the parade.
Tell everyone how much fun it is to be a Brownie. . .
Hi, mom.
Smile for the camera. . .

It was a lot of walking, but worth it in the end. They each got a ribbon to remember it all.
Brownies really can do anything. The girls here are getting ready to really make a difference in the community this year. They will be doing a year long Bottle Recycling Drive. They will also be getting ready to bridge up to become Juniors at the end of this year. . .taking off their brown colors in exchange for green! How exciting.

When I Look Out My Window. . .

When I look out my window I can see that fall is here. I feel it, too. Cool mornings and chilly nights while the sun still warms the day nicely.
The squirrels must be in their glory. . .acorns, too many to count are everywhere!
The view out of my front picture window is indeed a picture. . .a picture of fall in New England.

Enjoy the change of season where ever you are.
